Impermanence

Durham Cathedral.

The Neville tomb in Durham Cathedral is heavily damaged and eroded by time, reflecting the Buddhist concept of Impermanence. I sat and watched people moving from the tomb towards the Rose window which shone with light. The organ played in the background. My ancestor, James Heseltine, was organist at Durham Cathedral for most of his life.
