Angel of the North
Pen and Ink drawing by Mike Heseltine
The Angel of the North is a sculpture just outside Gateshead in the UK, by Antony Gormley. It has a busy road next to it, so many see the spectacular structure as they fly past. There is a football pitch behind and an impromptu memorial garden has been formed at the bottom of the hill. While I drew, I was interested in the movement of people, passing quickly through. Some in their cars, others stopping to look. All impermanent. All never to be seen by me again.
